The Women Empowerment Institute Cameroon (WEICAM) is an organization that
promotes human rights and the democratic process of Cameroon. WEICAM work especially
with organized women groups, using these local mechanisms to put more women in
leadership and decision making positions. To achieve these goals WEICAM has several
programs that will enable women to build a strong positive self image, develop their
potential, be included in leadership roles and engage in activities that will raise their living
standards.

News from WEICAM
September 2008
We have just released the first issue of our quarterly newsletter,
Sa'ka. Please check it out here.

Also, WEICAM has made the news thanks to our Civil
Marriage Project. In July, 44 couples were married in Kumbo
in a mass marriage ceremony in an attempt to empower
women by making sure that they have the rights they are
entitled to though marriage. You can read the newspaper
articles on the ceremony here and here (JPEG files).
